The May Day Bank holiday saw us head off for the first trip of the year. This was 35 mile drive to Cannock Chase, an area we had never visited previously despite it being so close to home. It was also a handy test run both Mr Happy and Le Puck prior to our return to France at the end of the month.
We stopped at the Caravan & Camping Club Site which is in a great location with direct access to the many walking and mountain biking trails in the area
We arrived with no major trauma other than not being able to get the reversing lever to engage on Le Puck, meaning a manual pitching slightly uphill, with help from other campers!
The shot below shows us all set up that evening prior to a reshuffle the following morning to allow us to move the camper back slightly
The following day saw us walk through the forest on one the trails to the Park Gate Inn a super dog friendly pub with great quality pub grub and real ale. It may have been just over a mile each way but the hills and uneven paths meant we were suitably knackered when we got back and therefore felt no guilt over the steak and chips consumed.
The following day saw us set off for another walk to the Cannock Chase Visitor Centre about 2 1/2 miles and a lot more hills away. By the time we got back we could hardly move and the dog was not getting out of his bed!
Before we started to pack up on the Monday another couple of shots
Before we headed home we drove back to the pub for a quick lunch and on the way back the camper reached a significant milestone!
A 100k miles young. Not bad for 41 years old
A good weekend and next stop Brittany & Normandy.....
